ELDER ABUSE: CAUSES, TYPES AND REPORTING

Course overview

This 2 hour course covers the types of abuse and neglect and how to respond. Abuse is more than just physical. It can also be emotional, financial and sexual. Learn how to recognize and report all types of abuse and neglect, as well as how to protect yourself so that you never abuse a client in your care. This is a 2 credit course. After completing this lesson, the student will be able to: understand who typically abuses elders and why; know legal consequences for caregivers who abuse; identify what is considered abuse; report possible abuse responsibly.
