COMMON CHRONIC DISEASES IN THE SENIOR POPULATION

Course overview

This 2 credit course will help you understand common diseases affecting the elderly population, including Alzheimer's disease, COPD, cancer, CHF, diabetes, Parkinson's, stroke and more. After completing this lesson, the student will be able to: understand the nature of chronic diseases; use the OAR Method to identify changes in condition or new diseases know which specialists treat the most common chronic diseases understand the physical & psychological effects of chronic diseases; understand proper care and precautions as well as how each disease impacts the caregiving needs of the client.
