Course overview

Death and dying is a part of the caregiver's job, especially when caring for the elderly. This course helps the caregiver understand advance directives, tasks for the dying person, stages of grief and how to say goodbye. After completing this lesson, the student will be able to: communicate effectively with client?s family to help them cope with issues related to care and to express needs and observations of the client; act appropriately and interact properly and compassionately with client during end-of-life care; and understand client, team, family, and personal issues at the center of end-of-life care.
