CAREGIVER FIRST AID: BURNS AND POISONS

Course overview

In this 1 hour course you will learn the signs, symptoms, and treatments for clients who have suffered a burn or come in contact with a poison. Learn how to provide emergency first aid for a burns and how to identify when to call for medical response. The poisons portion will help you identify common household items and plants that are poisonous and what to do if you suspect a client has ingested a poison. After completing this lesson, the student will be able to: understand the nature of burns, including classifications and basic first aid approaches; identify poisons and understand immediate response needs.
