DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES

Course overview

This 1 hour course has been specifically designed to prepare individuals for working with infants and children as well as special individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities and physical disabilities as a caregiver in an in-home setting. Caregivers for individuals with developmental disabilities will learn to support self-care, communication, mobility and independence, while understanding the causes and special needs of this population. After this lesson you will: be able to identify developmental disabilities; be familiar with the causes and types of developmental disabilities; know the difference between a developmental disability and a mental illness; know how to best provide home care for someone with a developmental disability.
