MEDICATION SELF ADMINISTRATION

Course overview

This 1 hour course will teach you how to assist in self administration of medications. Many care settings offer clients the opportunity to manage their own medications. Understanding the risks involved, monitoring for side effects and appropriate use helps create a successful, sustainable self-medication program for clients. This course is appropriate for staff in settings where medication assistance is not allowed, also. After this course the student will be able to: apply basic principles for assisting clients who manage their own medications; observe clients self-medication properly; teach safe medication handling; watch for complications or problems.
