Course overview
The Florida Board of Nursing implemented a new rule to incorporate a requirement of continuing education on the laws and rules that govern the practice of nursing in Florida for Licensed Practical Nurses, Registered Nurses, Clinical Nurse Specialists and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners. See rule 64B9-5.013. This two-hour course meets this particular requirement for license renewal. This course can be part of the total 24 hours that are required each biennium. HCAF is a Board of Nursing approved continuing education provider. As required, this course contains content of Florida Statutes Chapter 456 which describes general provisions relating to health occupations and professions; Chapter 464 which contains regulations related to the practice of nursing in the state of Florida; and the rules in Title 64B9 of the Florida Administrative Code. This course is made up of 5 modules that includes narration, scenarios, job aides, statute references, activities and quizzes to evaluate knowledge of the course content. Major content contributor: Mary Ann Knee RN, CRNI, COS C has been working in the home health arena since 1978 and has been an active HCAF supporter and Board Member for many years. Mary Ann trained at Pilgrim State Hospital School of Nursing in Brentwood New York and holds a Diploma as a Registered Nurse since 1975. She has been licensed in the state of Florida since 1978 as a registered nurse and nationally certified in infusion therapy since 1986.
