Intended Audience: Laboratory Technologist/Scientist Upon completion of this activity, you will be able to: Identify typical circumstances in which brown recluse spider bites occur. Describe the role of various cell types in the progression of symptoms that follow a brown recluse spider bite. List abnormal laboratory tests that may be observed with brown recluse spider bites. Indicate which blood products are appropriate to give to patients with hemolysis caused by brown recluse spider venom. Identify the drugs used to treat brown recluse spider bites and the laboratory¿s role in monitoring the effects of these drugs.
