UNDERSTANDING RESIDENT RIGHTS

Course overview

This course teaches students about resident rights. No matter what the care setting your residents have rights ? rights to privacy, dignity, independence and respect, among other things. Caregivers will learn how to apply these rights in their daily work with all residents. This course will help learners understand what resident rights are and how to respect them. Also, they will understand the definition of resident's rights, when to observe and preserve these rights as well as how to assist the resident in ways that do no compromise these rights in any way. In this session attendees will be able to: understand the client?s bill of rights; learn what HIPAA is and how it affects the caregiving role; how to treat clients with dignity and respect; understand privacy rights.
