Course Objectives: 1. Define ethics and integrity. 2. Explore issues of confidentiality pertaining to the patient. 3. Define HIPPA. 4. Learn about employer confidentiality guidelines. 5. Review indications of patient abuse. 6. Define physical and psychological abuse of the patient. 7. Be able to define and spot neglect and exploitation of the patient. 8. List state laws relating to prevention and report of abuse. 9. Learn about health care related decisions such as advance directives, living wills, and do not resuscitate orders. 10. Discuss the legal and ethical restrictions in the CNA consumer/CNA-family relationship.
