During this course, which is divided into 6 lessons, we will talk about ways to protect you and your client from healthcare acquired infections and transmission of bloodborne pathogens while delivering healthcare as well as implement evidence-based practices of infection control as recommended and required by regulatory agencies. By the end of this course, you should be able to identify OSHA as a regulatory agency for injury and illness prevention in the workplace; define bloodborne pathogens, HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C and modes of transmission; describe preventative measures to avoid transmission of bloodborne pathogens using personal protective equipment and standard precautions; describe good hand hygiene habits that prevent healthcare acquired infections; and explain the procedure for post exposure of bloodborne pathogens follow-up and treatment.
