REFRESHER NURSING SKILLS
Tracking # 20-451890
Course overview
As a result of the increasing demands on public health response to emergency preparedness issues, Public Health Nurses (PHN) are challenged with responding to a variety of incidents that affect public well-being. Due to the variety of response types such as sheltering, points of distribution for mass-vaccination and medical care settings, there are inherent challenges of response efforts and the roles/responsibilities of that response. This training program addresses nursing concerns regarding assessment and intervention skills that are not practiced on a routine basis, but may be utilized during an incident. The material in this course is based on the Refresher Nursing Skills Training Manual. This manual was designed and intended to provide the PHN with a brief systems review as well as targeted disease processes and injuries that may be encountered in a Special Needs Shelter.
