Course overview
Risk for developing breast cancer (BC) is not equal among all women; women considered at high risk for BC include those with one or more first-degree relatives (i.e., mother, sister, or daughter) with BC, a personal history of BC or of atypical cells, dense breast tissue because tumors are more difficult to detect within dense breast tissue, a history of thoracic radiation therapy, a BRCA1, BRCA2, or TP53 gene mutation, and genetic syndromes associated with increased cancer risk.
