Male breast cancer (MBC)¿uncommon but no longer considered rare¿is typically diagnosed at a later stage than female breast cancer (FBC). Although the exact etiology of primary MBC is unknown, it is believed to be similar to that of FBC in that it is associated with hormone level abnormalities, genetic mutations, lifestyle factors, and certain diseases.
