Tracking # 20-458059
Course overview
More Americans are seeking out Complementary and Alternative Medicine than ever, and a large part of that is yoga. The incredible use of yoga, and the science that supports it, is prime for mainstream health care professionals to embrace a powerful tool they have at their fingertips: yoga as medicine. Yoga¿s ¿medical model¿ looks much different from the current medical model in the United States. Driven by compassion and patient-centered care, yoga in medicine, uses an integrative, holistic, eivdence-based biopsychosocial model. This course equips the clinician with the tools necessary to identify at risk populations, understand and minimize risk factors in ACL injury, and understand the evaluative paradigm necessary to use yoga in a medical setting. Course presenter Ginger Garner reviews the latest evidence in injury epidemiology, injury prevention, and management of the foot. This seminar also provides clinicians with the opportunity to both experience and analyze a sequence of postures, breath techniques, stress reducing meditation, and other yoga based methods for Ilitibial band syndrome for both acute and subactute phases of healing. Special attention is given to identification of new diagnoses that plague the hip, high-risk populations, musculoskeletal presentation, and recruitment patterns for prevention of long-range debility, intra-articular damage, premature joint degeneration, and loss of quality of life.
