Acinetobacter infections, which are caused by bacteria of the genus Acinetobacter, are uncommon but severe opportunistic healthcare-associated infections that usually affect immunocompromised and respiratory-compromised patients in intensive care units (ICUs) and burn units. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of Acinetobacter infections, including its related risk factors, clinical presentation, symptoms, and treatment, and to aid in caring for patients with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
