Course overview

A bed is the primary piece of equipment utilized by a hospitalized patient and should be a safe, comfortable place for the patient that permits easy repositioning and reduces the risk for the development of pressure ulcers. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of the procedure for making an occupied bed, including why the procedure is performed, how to perform the skill, and how to maintain patient safety during bedmaking. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
