Course overview

The majority of health care in the United Kingdom (UK) is provided to persons through the publicly funded National Health Service (NHS). The Department of Health (DH) is responsible for oversight and leadership of the NHS and focuses on issues that can be considered aspects of case management, such as providing adult social care, influencing local spending on social care, providing education, and promoting public health. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of case management in the United Kingdom (U.K.), including a history of case management, current case management programs, the role of the case matron, and a comparison of patient perceptions of healthcare in the U.K. and other Western countries. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
