Elder abuse is an intentional or negligent act that causes harm or increases risk of harm to an older adult (i.e., over the age of 65). Elder abuse can be physical, sexual, or psychological, and can include neglect, abandonment, or financial exploitation. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of elder abuse including risk factors, demographic information, outcome data, and to aid in caring for the patient with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
