Course overview
TJC is an independent, not-for-profit organization responsible for accrediting and certifying > 20,000 healthcare organizations (e.g., ambulatory care facilities, behavioral health facilities, hospitals, critical access hospitals [i.e., rural health facilities with ≤ 25 beds and lengths of stay ≤ 96 hours), home health agencies, long-term care facilities, laboratory services, practitioners¿ offices that provide office-based surgery)in the United States. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of TJC¿s NPSGs including background information on TJC, a list of the NPSGs for 2014, and the components of the UP for Preventing Wrong Site, Wrong Procedure, and Wrong Person Surgery. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
