Course overview
Parent teaching about tonsillectomy in children and adolescents is the process of providing information to the parents (and patient, if age-appropriate) to improve knowledge of what to expect before, during, and after tonsillectomy surgery, and to enhance their ability to perform necessary care of the child/adolescent (hereafter referred to as the child) at home after discharge and cope with the perioperative experience and recovery. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of parent teaching about caring for children undergoing tonsillectomy, including a step-by-step process and the benefits of parent education on this topic. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
