Course overview
Patient classification systems (PCS; also called workload management systems or patient acuity systems) are tools that categorize patient needs or acuity level to determine the nursing resources needed for care in a clinical setting. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of the design and use of patient classification systems. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
