Course overview
LT is a highly complicated surgical procedure in which the patient¿s (i.e., the transplant recipient¿s) severely diseased or failing lung is removed and replaced with a healthy lung, which is most often harvested from a nonliving donor (i.e., a person who is on life support after experiencing brain death). This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of the procedure for providing patient education and discharge instructions after LT, including a step-by-step process and the benefits of patient education on this topic. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
