Course overview

Poison is any substance that is harmful when introduced into the body by ingestion, inhalation, or injection; by being absorbed through the skin; or through contact with the mucous membranes or eyes. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of preventing accidental poisoning including risk factors, demographic information, and why this is important to aid in caring for the patient at risk for poisoning. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
