PRECEPTING: BUILDING A COMPETENCY-BASED ORIENTATION PROGRAM

Course overview

Building a competency-based orientation program refers to designing a program that provides the didactic and clinical learning opportunities necessary for the orientee to provide competent and safe nursing care. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of building a competency-based orientation program, including information on various components of the program, who should participate in the building of a program, and the importance of a competency-based orientation program to nurse development and retention. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
