Course overview
Feedback is first-hand, objective, nonjudgmental appraisal of performance. Providing effective feedback is vital to the preceptor-novice nurse relationship because effective feedback reinforces good performance and promotes immediate correction of mistakes. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of providing effective feedback, including information on why this is important, what constitutes effective feedback, and how to provide feedback should a novice nurse be about to commit an error potentially placing the patient at risk for injury or harm. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
