PRECEPTING: TEACHING ADULT LEARNERS

Course overview

As more adults turn to nursing when making a career change and more experienced nurses return to the workforce after being away, preceptors need to rely on teaching methods that focus on the learning needs of adult learners. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of teaching adult learners, including information on principles of adult learning, facilitating learning in adults, and characteristics of teaching provided to adult learners. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
