There is a global nursing shortage that affects the ability of healthcare organizations to recruit and retain qualified nurses. Difficulty recruiting and retaining nursing staff places a significant financial and nonfinancial burden on healthcare organizations. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of nursing staff development and employee orientation in the recruitment and retention of healthcare personnel, including retention factors, characteristics of orientation programs, and outcome data. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
