Shared governance is a professional practice model that promotes nursing empowerment and shared decision making by making staff nurses accountable for decisions that impact policies, procedures, and processes at the point of service. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of the decision making process in shared governance, including how the process works, why it is important to understand the process, and outcome data. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
