Course overview

Approximately 780,000 persons experience stroke each year in the U.S., the majority of whom are > 65 years of age. Stroke is the result of either ischemia to the brain (i.e., ischemic stroke) or hemorrhage within the brain (i.e., hemorrhagic stroke). This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of the healthcare costs of stroke in the US including information on the various types of stroke, the number of strokes that occur annually in the US, and various contributors to the cost of stroke in the US. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
