Course overview

Discharge against medical advice (DAMA) of a pediatric patient refers to a situation in which a child leaves a medical facility by choice of the parent/guardian when doing so is not recommended by the treating clinician. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of managing discharge of a pediatric patient AMA, including information on the reasons why a family chooses to remove a child from medical care AMA, who is responsible for advocating for the patient, and documentation requirements for this situation. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
