Course overview

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory airway disorder that remains one of the most common childhood diagnoses for admission to the hospital in the U. S. In addition to initiating strategies for reducing environmental allergen exposure (e.g., cigarette smoke, dust), asthma is treated in a step-wise pharmacologic approach that is based on patient age. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of case management (CM) of children with asthma, including information on asthma management, the CM role in various settings, and the use of technology in CM. Information of parent and patient education are included. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
