Play is vital to who we are as human beings and it is an essential component of a healthy life. Play is present in all mammals, including human beings. In humans, it is equally important for children as it is for adults. The outcome of this course is for the learner to examine the impact that play has on the brain and overall wellbeing. This course discusses the importance of play in human development; discusses the qualities and characteristics of play; explores the types of play and play personalities; identifies the health benefits of play; and lists ways to incorporate play into everyday life.
