FILIPINO PATIENTS: PROVIDING CULTURALLY COMPETENT CARE TO OLDER ADULTS

Course overview

Culturally competent (CC) care of older Filipino patients is holistic and incorporates cultural beliefs, attitudes, and traditions when planning and providing care. CC care of older Filipino patients is based on information from patient/family interviews, completed written questionnaires, if available, and facility protocols specific to CC care of Filipino patients. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of providing CC care to older Filipino patients, including the impact of culture on health care practices and beliefs and specific CC interventions that are appropriate when caring for older Filipino patients. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
