FILIPINO PATIENTS: SPIRITUALITY -- PROVIDING CULTURALLY COMPETENT CARE

Course overview

Culturally competent (CC) care performed in support of Filipino patients¿ spirituality is holistic and incorporates cultural beliefs, attitudes, and traditions when planning and providing care. CC care performed to support Filipino patients¿ spirituality is based on information from patient/family interviews, completed written questionnaires, if available, and facility protocols specific to CC care of Filipino patients. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of providing CC care to support Filipino patients¿ spirituality, including the importance of CC care to support spirituality, cultural factors that impact Filipino patients¿ spiritual wellbeing, and specific methods of supporting spirituality through the delivery of CC care. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
