Course overview
This course is designed to fulfill the Florida requirement for 2 hours of education on laws and rules that govern the practice of nursing. The goal of this course is to provide Florida nurse licenees as well as those who are interested in being licensed in Florida, with a basic overview of the Florida Nurse Practice Act and the rules. The course is designed to be presented in a class room setting, or in a home study format. Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to: 1. List the rights and responsibilities of the Florida Board of Nursing. 2. Compare the differences in the practice of the registered nurse with the practice of the licensed practical nurse. 3. Compare the practices of a registered nurse with that of an advanced practice nurse. 4. List at least three specific practice requirements for Florida nurse licensees. 5. Identify and list continuing education requirements for Florida nurse licensees. 6. Discuss at least six grounds for disciplinary action of any Florida nurse licensee. 7. Define the role of the Florida Intervention Project for Nurses. Course content will be discussed / reviewed. Upon completion of the course content, the participant will be required to take the written examination. The examination consists of 10 questions. The satisfactory passing score is 80%.
