Course Description This course will place emphasis on the most common pathologies seen by the Massage Therapist. Pathology is defined as the science or the study of the origin, nature, and course of diseases, the conditions and processes of a disease, and any deviation from a healthy, normal, or efficient condition. Illustrations and terminology will be included. Objective: Upon successful completion of this class, the student will be able to: Identify common pathologies often seen in a Massage Therapy Business. Achieve an understanding of the types of medicines normally prescribed for such Pathologies. Understand the prefixes and suffixes of medical terminology for clarity. Determine when Massage would be indicated or contraindicated for numerous disorders. Define ¿Etiology of disease¿. Speak intelligently with clients about their personal diagnosis, with a clear understanding of the Massage Therapists scope of practice.
