Educational objectives: ¿Define paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria (PCH), the type of immunoglobulin involved and the specificity of the antibody. ¿Explain the demographics, signs, symptoms and laboratory findings in PCH. ¿Describe the gold-standard diagnostic test for PCH, the Donath-Landsteiner test and what constitutes a positive result. ¿Differentiate between cold agglutinin syndrome (CAS) and PCH. ¿Explain the prognosis and treatment for PCH.
