BLACK PATIENTS: PROVIDING CULTURALLY COMPETENT PATIENT EDUCATION

Course overview

Culturally competent (CC) patient education of Black patients is holistic and incorporates appropriate cultural beliefs, attitudes, and traditions when planning and providing care. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of what is involved in providing CC patient education to Black patients, including the importance of CC patient education, cultural factors that impact Black patients¿ view of their healthcare, and strategies to enhance the effectiveness of CC patient education. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
