Course overview

A Bartholin cyst or abscess (e.g., pus-filled cyst) results from obstruction and/or infection of one of two greater vestibular glands (i.e., Bartholin glands) of the vagina. A Bartholin cyst or abscess can develop when the duct of the Bartholin gland becomes obstructed due to retained secretions, congenital narrowing of the duct, or infection. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of how to care for the patient with a Bartholin cyst or abscess. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
