Suicide and alcohol use disorders (AUDs) are serious public health concerns in the United States. Persons with AUDs have higher rates of suicide attempts and suicide completion than the general population. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of AUDs and the assessment of suicide risk in patients with AUDs, including information on the risk of suicide related to alcohol use, various tools for use in assessing individuals at risk for suicide, and why it is important to assess for suicide risk. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
