CESAREAN SECTION: PROVIDING POST-OPERATIVE CARE

Course overview

Post-operative care following cesarean section (C-section) is the nursing care provided to a patient after the surgical delivery of a neonate and placenta. A C-section is a surgical procedure whereby a neonate is delivered through an incision in the abdominal wall (i.e., laparotomy) and in the uterine wall (i.e., hysterotomy). This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of post-operative care following a C-section. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
