Course overview
Elder abuse is a harsh reality, and this course teaches healthcare workers how to identify its victims and how to respond. Those who complete this CE will be able to explain the signs and symptoms of elderly abuse, as well as the phenomenon of abuse within institutional settings. They will also learn about how to report elder abuse and get proper assistance. OT/As and PT/As will benefit from this course through improved awareness of types of elder abuse, laws, and procedures related to elder abuse, knowledge of warning signs, and consequences of abuse. Clinicians will gain improved observation skills regarding behavioral indicators of victims of physical, emotional, sexual, and financial abuse needed to identify and report to appropriate agencies and improve awareness of a clinician's role in reporting abuse.
