Course overview

According to Pender, nurse theorist and founder of the Health Promotion Model (HPM), health is defined as "an evolving life experience" that involves the "actualization of inherent and acquired human potential through goal-directed behavior, competent self-care, and satisfying relationships with others." This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of Pender's HPM as a framework for clinical nursing practice. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
