Course overview

Nurse turnover refers to nurses voluntarily leaving the organization for which they work to go to another nursing position or to leave the profession of nursing. Turnover is currently an important problem in nursing, and the need to retain qualified nurses in the workforce is becoming increasingly important because the aging population is causing an increasing demand for healthcare services. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of nurse turnover intentions, including the relevancy of this topic to the current nursing workforce, the impact of nurse turnover on patient outcomes and workplace function, as well as factors that influence nurses¿ intentions to leave their current position. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
