A crush injury is a direct injury to one or more body parts that result from prolonged and/or excessive pressure. A crush injury¿even if it does not involve vital organs¿can lead to permanent disability or death. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of crush injury and crush syndrome, including etiology, complications, and treatment, and to aid in caring for the patient with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
