Course overview

Preoperative teaching to prepare children for surgery refers to teaching interventions that provide information to children and parents/family members prior to a child¿s surgery. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of preoperative teaching and preparing children for surgery, including why preoperative teaching is important, information to include in preoperative teaching, teaching methods, and learning barriers. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
