PAIN ASSESSMENT: USING THE BRIEF PAIN INVENTORY

Course overview

Pain is multi-dimensional, affecting a patient¿s sensory and emotional experiences. The Joint Commission (TJC) requires all accredited hospitals, ambulatory care facilities, office-based surgery practices, long-term care providers, and clinics to routinely assess patients for pain. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of the BPI for pain assessment, instructions for administering the BPI, and along with scoring and interpretation. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
