After completion of this program the learner will understand what cholesterol is. knowledge of the difference of LDL cholesterol and HDL cholesterol. Discuss the role of the liver in manufacturing and secreting LDL cholesterol. Identify therapeutic lifestyle changes to lower cholesterol. Knowledge of medications to lower cholesterol. Understand the risk categories for LDL levels. Understand LDL/HDL and total HDL ratios. Understand what triglycerides and VLDL is. Identify causes for hypertriglyceridemia. Identify medications to lower cholesterol, lipids and triglycerides.
