Course overview

Upon completion of this program the learner will be able to understand the primary and secondary survey related to the burn patient. Understand burn physiology. Knowledge of fluid resuscitation. Discuss the evaluation of the burn wound. Knowledge of extent of burns and burn depth. Knowledge of burn wound infections. Discuss burn wound management. Identify outpatient wound care strategies and inpatient wound care strategies. Knowledge of medication treatment for burn patients. Discuss electrical burns, chemical burns, toxic and epidermal necrolysis, facial burns and hand burns. Discuss rehabilitation of the burn patient.
